Beginning in 1830, two brothers named Louis-Victor and Célestin Baume opened a watch dealership in a village in the Swiss Jura known as Les Bois. Following their motto, “Accept only perfection, only manufacture watches of the highest quality”, the brand quickly branched out through the British Empire. The quality of their exceptional watches led to a rapid popularity that expanded to India, and other locations across the globe. When the 1920s hit, William Baume, the director of the company, partnered up with Paul Mercier. Side by side, they founded Baume & Mercier, Genève in 1918. Not long after, the company became one of the most active and prosperous in the market of wristwatches by designing remarkable quality and taste. The show-stopping time-keeper company won ten Grand Prix awards and seven gold medals at international exhibitions and galleries in Paris, Melbourne, Zurich, London, Amsterdam and Chicago.
